How weekly overtime is totaled

Each day's hours are calculated independently (clock-out minus clock-in, minus that day's break), then split into regular and overtime hours based on your daily overtime threshold — the regular and overtime totals across all seven days are summed separately before pay is calculated, so a long day is flagged for overtime on that specific day rather than only after the whole week's hours are totaled.

Frequently asked questions

Does this calculate weekly overtime (like over 40 hours/week) or only daily overtime? This tool applies the overtime threshold on a per-day basis — for jurisdictions or contracts that calculate overtime based on total weekly hours instead, sum up the daily entries manually against your weekly threshold.

Why is the overtime multiplier fixed at 1.5×? That's the most common "time and a half" rate, but some contracts, holidays, or jurisdictions use different multipliers (like double time) — adjust your calculation manually if your situation uses a different rate.

What if I work a night shift that crosses midnight? Enter the clock-out time as normal — the calculator automatically adds 24 hours when the out-time is earlier than the in-time, correctly handling overnight shifts.
